Why Homeowners Choose AK Lighting for Landscape Lighting
Three things that separate a professional install from a hardware store disappointment.
Custom-Designed to Your Yard
We design the system before we touch a single fixture. That means the right lights in the right places, sized to your property — not a one-size templscape lighting, and is 2–10× brighter than competing systems.
Pro-Grade Brass Fixtures That Last
We install solid brass fixtures, not the plastic ones from a hardware store. Brass holds up outdoors for 15+ years. Plastic doesn’t make it five. Hardware store fixtures look fine at firsur roofline until the sun goes down.
Backed by 500+ Installs
Every design decision we make is informed by what actually works across hundreds of North Texas properties — not manufacturer marketing or guesswork. Five hundred installs means we’ve seen what faiontrol, no ladder required.
How Our Landscape Lighting Process Works
Four steps from first consultation to a finished system ent lighting system.
1
Design First
We walk your property at night, identify the features worth lighting, and build a layout plan before ordering anything. The design determines fixture count, wire runs, and transformer sizing.
2
Select the Right Fixtures
Spotlights, path lights, hardscape lights, step lights — each fixture type has a specific job. We match the right fixture to the right location, every time. No mismatched products.
3
Professional Installation
Wire goes in at proper depth. Connections get sealed with waterproof connectors. The transformer is sized to no more than 80% of rated capacity, with room built in for future additions.
4
Adjust Until It’s Right
We come back after dark, walk every angle a visitor would see, and fix whatever’s off — hotspots, glare, dark gaps, uneven coverage. The final night walk is where the result gets made.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before you book.
What types of landscape lighting fixtures do you install?
We install six fixture types, each matched to a specific application: spotlights for facades, trees, and columns; path lights for walkways and garden beds; super bright spots for large trees over 40 feet; gutter lights for dormers; step and deck lights for stair risers and deck posts; and hardscape lights for retaining walls and stone steps. Every fixture we use is solid brass, not plastic.
How do you size a transformer for a landscape lighting system?
We calculate the total wattage across all planned fixtures and size the transformer so the system never runs above 80% of rated capacity. We also build in a buffer for future additions. A transformer running at its limit will dim your lights and fail early, while proper sizing prevents both.
Can you work with an existing landscape lighting system?
Yes. We offer lighting tune-up and repair services for existing systems, whether we installed them or not. If something isn’t working or the layout no longer fits your property, we can assess what’s there and fix it.
What’s the difference between your fixtures and what I’d find at a hardware store?
Material. Solid brass versus plastic makes a lifespan difference of roughly 10 times. Plastic fixtures typically last one to five years outdoors. Brass fixtures last 15 years or more. Hardware store fixtures look fine when you put them in. The problem shows up in year two.
How long does installation take?
Most residential installs take one day. Larger properties or more complex designs may run into a second day. We’ll give you a clear timeline during the design consultation before any work begins.
